WeatherPromise is a parametric weather insurance policy. It pays a fixed amount if the weather data shows that the precipitation trigger for your trip has been met.
HOW IT WORKS
Your policy schedule sets out the trip location, the coverage area, the insurance period, the weather trigger, the number of bad weather days, the weather dataset used and the amount payable. During the insurance period we monitor precipitation in the coverage area using that dataset.
If an insured event occurs — falling precipitation in the coverage area reaching or exceeding the trigger event, and the requirements for your benefit type are met — the fixed insurance benefit shown in your policy schedule is paid.
There is no normal claims process: you do not submit a claim and you do not have to prove a loss. No later than 48 hours after the end of your insurance period we email you the decision, whether or not a payment is due.
HOW YOU BUY IT
WeatherPromise is offered during the booking process with one of our travel partners. When you book your trip or accommodation, you have the option to add it as an additional service. You can buy this cover before you depart for your trip.
Cover applies to a pre-booked trip only. There is no cover for any claims arising from circumstances you were aware of, or could reasonably be expected to be aware of, at the time you bought the policy.
YOUR DOCUMENTS
After you buy, we email you your policy schedule together with your policy wording and the Insurance Product Information Document (IPID). Together these are your insurance contract. Please read them carefully — they set out the full terms, exclusions and conditions that apply, and your policy schedule holds every parameter specific to your trip.
If you cannot find them, check your spam or junk folder first, then email us at [email protected] and we will resend them.
